I was working in Getafe.

I passed by Atocha ten minutes before the bombing.

That day I was earlier than usual.

A colleague at work was travelling on the same wagon where one of the bombs failed to explode.

That day changed my life in different ways.

The next day at school we were singing this song in all my classes.

"The positive side"

I think I am quite an optimistic person,

usually trying to find the positive aspect of any experience.

Last Friday, my students at 4th C E.S.O. gave me a new opportunity to find "the positive side".

They gave me the opportunity to:

1. Check that I can still shout, even at my age!

2. Communicate with their parents, something often useful.

3. Decide how to check homework more effectively in the future.

4. Allow my students be more responsible and mature.

the First Benefit Show

at IES Isidra de Guzmán took place at the Meeting Room of the High School at 17:30.

All the tickets available were sold among students, friends and relatives and everybody enjoyed a funny afternoon. Thank you everybody for joining us and congratulations to the artists! Special thanks to Miguel Ángel and other teachers and relatives who took photographs and videos. The following is a brief summary of the event:

MIXING IS POSSIBLE, a dancing show created by 4th ESO students Estefanía Ayala, Celia López, Elena Antequera, Jessica Durán and Lissa Dockli, in which different styles are mixed. Jazz, classic dancing, reggaeton, funky and hip-hop are combined to show that mixing is possible thanks to respect and tolerance.

A GLASSES SYMPHONY, rythms with plastic glasses on desks, an original way of showing imitations, repetitions and canons. The interpreters are 2nd ESO students Esteban Cevallos, Yulia Shcerba, Laura Sopeña, Diego García, Laura Sánchez, Sara El Korchi, Lorena Descalzo, Diego Gallego, Cristina Cubillo, Cecilia Rubio, Nerea Álvarez y Miguel García Romeral.

YOUR BROTHER IS A MAN, a Spanish parody by Isabel Agüero whose aim is reflecting on women equality.

Our students looked for information about different charity local entities, and they themselves decided this one to be raised the money for.

The show will be performed by the IES Isidra de Guzmán students, with the help of their teachers Amelia de la Prida (Music), Teresa Cancelo (English) and Idoia Muñoz (P.E.).

Consuelo Marazuela (Religion) also helped with the coordination of the show.

This activity is part of our REDYNETED PROJECT.

I´ve found this book in a library, in the "Junior Section"; that is to say, "Literature for young people", but I´ve found this story worth reading at any age.

I´m Tracy Beaker. This is a book all about me. I´d read it if I were you. It´s the most incredible dynamic heart-rending story. Honest. And I bet some great movie magnate spots it and turns it into a film and I´ll get to be a star. (Just like my mum). I suppose I´d better let Peter have a small part in my film. But not Louise or Justine. No way! Cam can write the script if she likes. Cam is... But if you want to know who she is you´d better read this book. There´s some funny bits and some rude bits and some sad bits and I think it´s the best book ever. But then I would do, seeing as I helped write it.

She began her working life at a publishing company, then spent two years working as a magazine jurnalist before turning her hand very successfully to a career as a full-time author.
